A nutrition-based diet is not composed of junk or greasy food.  What you have to do is play it smart by eating products which contain healthy fats like omega 3 fatty acids which are commonly found in flax, tuna, salmon and walnuts.<br />
You will also need to increase your protein intake from things like lean meat, nuts, poultry products, legumes and seeds.  To top it off, you will also need carbohydrates that can be found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.  Another thing you will have to do is eat five to six meals per day instead of the eating three large ones.<br />
Aside from food, there are protein foods and supplements drinks available which you can add during any time of the day.  Since they come in different flavors, you can choose your favorite one from the store, add some water and then serve.<br />
Some people even add a small amount of flax seed oil and psyllium powder so they also get some omega 3 fatty acids into their system.<br />
Now that you have worked the eating part, now it is time to work on body building.  Resistance training forces the muscles in your body to work harder and as a result increases your muscle size.  Some examples are aerobics, cycling, running and weight lifting which can be done of course if you have the equipment at home or if you are a member of a gym.<br />

I donât think so!â  Donât be too quick to write off this powerful visualization practice; research has proven it works and Iâve been observing my clients using it successfully for the last five years. </p>
<p>Guided imagery is a mind-body intervention aimed at incorporating the âpower of the mindâ to assist the body to lose weight and it fits perfectly with the non-diet approach to releasing weight that I recommend.   Read on to find out more about this powerful technique. Guided imagery defined:</p>
<p>The primary aim of guided imagery is to âgently guideâ you to a state where your mind is calm, silent and still.   Then, through imagery, either created internally or by following along on an imagery tape/CD, the mind communicates with the body.   Imagery is the biological connection between the mind and body.   A visualization where you see yourself releasing weight, programs the subconscious mind to do what you want later after the imagery session is over. </p>
<p>It has been proven over and over again that what you are imagining right now will be what your life gives you in the future.   Very often our mental image is in conflict with what we want to accomplish.   However, if you align your mental image with your intentions and affirmations, you create a powerful roadmap for your subconscious to deliver to you everything that you want and more.   âAs a man thinketh, so he is. â  We become what we think or say.    So do you think that someone who makes statements like âI canât lose weight. â or âA moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hipsâ can listen to a guided imagery CD and then lose weight?  No, of course not.   I see so many people sabotage their efforts inadvertently by repeating old sayings like these without giving any thought to the affect they are having on their efforts!</p>
<p>In order to BE healthy and release weight, you must align all parts of yourself, including your words and vision of who you are.   You must be able to see yourself as you want to be, believe in your ability to be successful, speak it, feel the emotions you will be feeling once you have achieved your goals and then hold that vision in your mind.   Then over time, among other things, youâll notice you begin to crave healthy foods and possibly desire to exercise more frequently, thus enabling you to BE more and more health conscious. <p>Guided imagery, in general, has been used by athletes since the 1980s and researchers have found the study of why and how it works very interesting.   Theyâve discovered that your brain does NOT know the difference between you vividly imagining something or actually doing that same activity.   </p>
<p>So, in effect, you are training your brain, in advance, to do the activity that you desire.   It could be executing a perfect golf swing, making a sale, meeting new contacts at a networking event or releasing the excess fat from your cells. </p>
<p>In fact, current published research supports the use of guided imagery for weight loss.   Several studies suggest that people that listen to a weight loss guided imagery tape or CD, while participating in a weight reduction program, lose an average of twice as many pounds as their counterparts that listen to music only.   </p>
<p>My clients that used a guided imagery CD during a 9 day cleanse that I occasionally recommend, consistently lost 3 more pounds during the 9 days than their counterparts who choose not to use guided imagery.   So this technique can help you release unwanted pounds easily and effortlessly.   Guided imagery tips:</p>
<p>It is best to listen to guided imagery for at least 20 minutes daily, for 21 days, to ensure that youâre absorbing all of the information.   It does not matter if you fall asleep while listening, the images are still received by your subconscious.   As you keep forming these pleasant mental pictures, seeing yourself energetic and at your goal weight, youâll find yourself more motivated to make them a reality. </p>

From the first day a person joins the military, they are led in exercises and long runs daily.  This is because it is very important for the military to stay in top shape. This may sound all so confusing so I have illustrated an example for you here.  Imagine a woman whose weight is 180 pounds and is of the height of 5 feet 10 inches.  She would have a BMI of 26 and would be considered on the over weight side of the index.<br />
Lets take the height of the woman which is 70 inches and then square it and the result is 4900.  We then take her weight in pounds 180 divided by 4900 and we get 0. 036 which is then multiplied by 705 to give us 25. 89 or 26 rounded.  This is how we have come to get her BMI at 26.<br />
The following is an easy to follow table which will assist you in determining your BMI.  If the BMI of an adult is below 18. 5 then he or she is considered under weight.  Between 18. 5 to 25 is normal.  Above 25 to 29. 5 is over weight.  Individuals must take special care if they BMI fall between 25 and 34. 5.  They are prone to serious health risks.<br />
Over-weight men with BMI over 25 and waist lines over 40cm must be very careful.  Women have to be below 34cm.  If the results are over these figures then diabetes, hypertension and heart disease are huge risk factors to these individuals.  As a general rule if your BMI is over 30 then you are obese and must look at ways to bring the figure below the safety level to avoid falling victim to diabetes,etc.<br />
What are the principles of weight management?<br />
Some of the basic principles in weight management are:<br />
Cut down on your calorie intakes in your meals.  You can go about this by either reducing your meal intake or taking food that have less calories in them.  By taking less food would mean you would start feeling more hungry and this would cause hunger pangs.  If you could take smaller meals and take foods that have lower calorie values you could reduce the hunger pangs and still have a positive impact on your weight.<br />
Try avoiding foods and drinks that have a high sugar level such as aerated drinks, sweets and chocolates.<br />
Introduce an exercise regime into your daily routine; By introducing a slow walking pattern of 3000 steps initially you will find weight loss begin to happen.  For an ideal routine you should work yourself up to 10000 steps per day at least 5 days a week.  This will translate to about 45 minutes of brisk walking in your neighbourhood.<br />
Avoid bad eating patterns: Avoid eating on the run and try and make time to relax and enjoy your food.<br />
Eat right and avoid eating too often: By following a recipe book based on low GI foods you could very easily eat what is right for you and avoid over eating.  You will be surprised to see how delicious these recipes really are.  You will never ever want to eat rubbish again or at least you will think twice before you do so in the future.<br />
Record what you eat: It is important that we write down everything we eat when we start our weight management program.  It is surprising to see what slips under the radar and lands onto our plates at meal times.<br />
Maintain and improve your health: The first step in our weight management program is to cut down our food cravings in the first 5 days.  This is easily done by going on to a low carbohydrate diet high in fibre and vital nutrition.  After the first 5 days you should begin your transform stage where you will start to reduce your body mass by doing at least 3000 to 10000 steps a day backed by a good healthy diet of low GI meals.<br />
You will find you can easily lose a kg per week using a weight program suited for you.  If you lose more than 2kg per week then you must be careful.  We do not want to drastically lose weight and put too much stress upon our system.  An average of half a kg is ideal for most people.<br />
It is advisable to keep records especially visual ones of your body when you start.  By keeping before and after photo shots along with weight and stomach measurements you can then watch the improvements in the days and weeks into your program.  <br/><br/></p>

That is a wonderful feeling that is hard to define.  I had finally succeeded; I found a weight loss plan that really works.<br />
I had tried some of the well-known weight loss programs, you know the ones, they are very expensive and can even afford to pay for commercials on TV.  Although I am sure those plans work for some they did not work for me.  After a week or so of the required food I was tired of it.  I feel sure that the celebrities promoting those programs receive lots of additional help and advice that the rest of us do not.<br />
In years gone by I also tried various fad diets and pills.  With the fad diets I was starving after a couple of days and the pills left me feeling miserable.  Headaches have always been a problem for me and using the supplements just increased them.  But that was not the end of the side-effects; I also suffered with stomach cramps, fatigue, and a nervousness that caused me to be very irritable.<br />
You may be wondering what this weight loss plan is that actually worked.  First of all it is not a diet at all.  That&#8217;s a good thing! I am never hungry.  I have learned about the impact of our metabolism rate on our weight.  I know that sounds simplistic but it really is possible to manipulate your metabolic rate.<br />
Additionally, I wanted to lose weight and be healthy.  I found that my nursing background came in handy with that issue.  In reality a weight problem affects you physically, emotionally and mentally.  Therefore, if you are going to lose weight you need to focus on you as a complete person, not a diet plan or a single aspect of you.<br />
Stress can play a major role in our weight.  It is important that we address our emotional status when we are attempting to manage our weight.  The good news is that there are ways to alleviate or decrease the stress in your life without the use of medications.<br />
When you are developing a plan to solve a problem you go back to the basics of; what, when, where, why, etc.  That is done before you move forward.  This provides you the opportunity to see where the real problem is and to resolve it at its root.  You can then develop realistic goals and decide on detailed steps that will help you reach those goals.<br />
The problem with most weight programs is that they do not address any of those issues.  Instead the focus is on losing weight by following the diet or program.  This means that the &#8216;person&#8217; is being ignored.  And eventually there will come a time that the diet or program will need to end.  Then the person ends up right back where he started, or even worse.<br />
I have found that by using a weight management plan that is holistic in nature I am able to lose and control my weight plus I am living a healthier lifestyle.  I look better and I feel great! This approach is easy to use because you simply make small changes to your life as time goes by.  This is a sure way to lose weight and keep it off.  The end result is a healthier, slimmer and trimmer person that is less stressed and more satisfied.  You really can&#8217;t ask for more than that! <br/><br/></p>
